So what drove me to start Ice Fusion?

My name is Scott Ferguson, 48 years old with three teenage children.

I was at a point in my life where I needed a full factory reset. At 44 years old, I felt lost, searching for my purpose, and wondering what life had in store for me now. I had just gone through a massive change—divorced, self-employed, and raising three teenage kids —and I was uncertain about the future.

Little did I know, fate had an amazing path mapped out for me. I was incredibly lucky to meet my beautiful partner, Joanna, whom I've been with for over three years now. Since meeting Jo, she has opened my eyes to the world, shown me how easy healthy living can be, and I am so appreciative of her. Every day, I get to take a breath and be surrounded by loved ones because of her significant impact on my journey.

Life was going great for us both, but there was still more for me to learn. Midway through 2023, Jo purchased an ice plunge bath—the cheap basic kind that requires you to add ice every day and replace the water and every few days to keep it clean. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the mental rewards, clarity, and benefits I gained from a simple daily six-minute plunge in 10-15°C water. For once, I had my full mental focus back, and the drive to work on my life returned at full speed.

As I expected, it didn’t take long for the hassle of going to the service station and spending over $12 - $15 daily on ice to take its toll. The out-of-pocket costs and the lost time every morning was draining. I even tried to make my own ice using plastic tubs in my freezer, but that didn’t work out too well either.

I had a challenge on my hands: to design a suitable portable inflatable tub with full Wi-Fi capability and a fully automated chiller to use at home, which could also be packed up to take to our holiday cabin. After working with multiple manufacturers, receiving more samples than I can count, spending hundreds of hours re-engineering with supply partners, and making numerous trips to visit them, we finally had our products.

We have engineered and designed our product for Australian conditions with the only fully certified Australian standards-approved chiller, AS/NZ 4417.1 by an Australian owned company. For once, there was an opportunity for a local Australian company to support cold plunge clients right here in Australia.

We hold local stock, provide local backup support, and ship our products directly from our warehouse in Melbourne—not from some random supplier in Asia that you may never see or, if you’re lucky, receive at all, that not to mention is not Certified for use in Aus. Why wait, when we get it shipped out to you in one business day and received the very next day in most cases?

Finally, we have helped open the door for everyday Australians to enjoy the benefits of cold plunging, no matter who you are or where you live. If you had asked me five years ago to try cold plunging, I would have laughed, grabbed a cold drink, and said, “Good luck with that.”

Well, now I have MY “Good luck with that.” I cold plunge every morning at 10°C before heading to my office and have never felt more focused, calm, relaxed, and ready to start of each day.
